My Review
I was thrilled to be asked to take part in this tour as I am such a huge Jane Isaac fan.
I have already had the pleasure or reading the first 2 books in the Helen Lavery series "An Unfamiliar Murder" and "The Truth Will Out" So this read felt like slipping right in to a familiar world and characters i knew well.
That been said I am totally of the opinion that this book the can be enjoyed not only within the series but very much as a standalone read.
If your looking for a solid police police procedural then this is the book for you, the story the characters and the setting are all flawless with enough twist and turns within the tale to really amp up the tension.
2 teenagers, skiving off school find the body of a woman in an abandoned factory, It turns out that the woman is a police officer and her body has been horrifically mutilated.
DCI Helen Lavery is called back to the force after been on leave due to an injury to be thrown head first in to the case.
DCI Lavery along with her team tackle the mystery of the fellow police officers death, she was well liked had no issues so why was she killed? is this gang related, a random attack?
as more bodies pile up with a connect to the murder women, the twist in the tale ramp up and we head to an ending and a revel i did not see coming!
