My Review
This book was utterly fantastic! Set in the not to distant future in the year 2023, Trump has been president for these years and we have a few nods towards Brexit and the post Brexit UK.
Here 3 longtime friends who met at university
Ella, a struggling journalist, Millie, a university professor and Amala, A Muslim tech entrepreneur and controversial comedian.
Amala is invited by her brother to attend a ladies learning session, Donning a burqa she heads to this women’s group based at the Tower Hamlets sharia community. But she doesn't return.
Millie is at Downing Street to give a talk on radicalisation to the new Prime Minister, suddenly Downing Street's computer systems are taking over by an all-female jihadist terrorist cell.
By the end of the day all 3 friends lives will be forever changed after they all become caught up in the madness of a truly horrific terror plot.
There are twists and shocks at every turn and some that just chilled me to the core!
This is Irvine's debut and it is brilliant such clever and researched writing she even lists a biography of the books and sources she read whilst creating the book.
This book has violence and is shocking but not for the thrills it in no way glamorises terrorism it just shows the story without condoning the actions within, but really makes you think about the hate that has caused terrorism all over the world.
Author Bio
KH Irvine grew up in Scotland and now lives near London.
The book was her 50th birthday gift to herself, believing you are never too old to try something new. Her work has taken her to board rooms, universities and governments all over the world and has included up close and personal access to special forces.
A Killing Sin is her first book. The second follows on a few years later as Britain moves to civil unrest with the rise of the far right as the personal and political become intertwined.
