"The bestselling '90s nostalgia time travel comedy "

Synopsis

Jo's world is about to change forever, and it’s about time

Her marriage is on auto-pilot, daughter hates her, job sucks and it’s not even Tuesday.

As Jo's life implodes, a freak event hurls her back to ‘90s Los Angeles where, in a parallel universe, she’s about to hit the big time as a rock star.

Jo has to choose between her dreams and her family in an adventure that propels her from London to Hollywood then Glastonbury, the world’s greatest music festival.

Jo encounters a disgraced guru, a movie star with a fetish for double-decker buses, and the biggest pop star in the world... who just happens to want to kill her.

Back to Reality is a funny, heartwarming story about second chances, with a heroine to rival Bridget Jones and the rock n roll nostalgia of Keith A Pearson.

The novel from the Bestseller Experiment podcast presenters Mark Stay and Mark Desvaux. The Two Marks went to more gigs in the '90s than in any other decade and are currently working on a time machine to see Prince in concert.

My Review

I have to say this story was an absolute tonic in the present times, really enjoyed this tale in audio book form, adding a more audio-books to my review list, is something I really want to do during 2020.

This was a really fantastically fun story, mad at times and laugh out loud funny

We are introduced to Jo, blessed in life with an amazing singing voice but now hurtling towards her mid 40's and her life has stalled, with a daughter that hates her and a husband who is a complete ass and is cheating on her, all she seems to be doing is dragging herself through each nightmare day.

When suddenly in come Yohanna, a young, budding pop star - only she is a young Jo from a parallel universe, and she needs Jo's help! so far so mad-capped! Well Jo's got nothing to lose? right? What could go wrong? and when they end up travelling in time and swapping bodies, well all bets are off!

This audio story took me on a journey through the past present and parallels lives jo's life, from her humdrum "modern day" nightmare to the glitz and glamour of the pop circuit, some insane moments and some laugh out loud events!

I loved the madness of this read, true escapism at it best with a wonderful story with its elements a perfect mix of Back To The Future, Sliding Doors and Freaky Friday. It was great to have this world to fall into during current events, my only advice is that as this is a time travel book that in the audio version you still need your wits about you to keep up with what time you are in and who's talking!
