"The latest in the bestselling Six Stories series "

Synopsis

Continuing the unique, explosive Six Stories series, based around six podcasts comes a compulsive, taut and terrifying thriller, and a bleak and distressing look at modern society’s desperation for attention.

Beast will unveil a darkness from which you may never return…

In the wake of the ‘Beast from the East ’ cold snap that ravaged the UK in 2018, a grisly discovery was made in a ruin on the Northumbrian coast.

Twenty-four-year-old vlogger, Elizabeth Barton, had been barricaded inside what locals refer to as ‘ The Vampire Tower ’, where she was later found frozen to death.

Three young men, part of an alleged cult, were convicted of this terrible crime, which they described as a ‘prank gone wrong ’.

However, in the small town of Ergarth, questions have been raised about the nature of Elizabeth Barton’s death and whether the three convicted youths were even responsible.

Elusive online journalist Scott King speaks to six witnesses – people who knew both the victim and the three killers – to peer beneath the surface of the case.

He uncovers whispers of a shocking online craze that held the young of Ergarth in its thrall and drove them to escalate a series of pranks in the name of internet fame.

He hears of an abattoir on the edge of town, which held more than simple slaughter behind its walls, and the tragic and chilling legend of the Ergarth Vampire…

My Review

I have to say I could not wait to get stuck in to this book! I almost cheered when it arrived in my door mat.

There has been so much anticipation for Beast in the book blogging and reading communities, after the amazing receptions and reviews for the first three books in this series, Six Stories, Hydra and Changeling, I was left hoping and praying that Beast would stay true to form and I am thrilled to say we were not let down!

Please do not be put off that this is the 4th in the series minus a few references this book can absolutely be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but I would recommend enjoying the series as a whole as why deny yourself this unique and thrilling reading experience.

As with the previous books, this one is presented as a podcast series looking at a true crime run by Scott King. The Podcast has six episodes with each episode focusing on an interview with six individuals all who are Witnesses to the case or friends and family of the victim. The victim in this case is Vlogger Elizabeth Barton or Lizzie B to her fans, with a huge online following, she is the quintessential up and coming social media influencer, beautiful, popular and surprisingly kind Elizabeth is working hard on projects to help others, yet looking for more extreme watch worthy content for her Vlogs she finds herself taking part in the Dead In Six Days challenge.

Posting daily to youTube during the challenge her follwers grow but then horrifyingly she is found dead in the ‘Vampire Tower’ the rumours start to swirl, even when her killers are caught and convicted questions still remain.

Was this a prank or game gone wrong? or is something much darker at play? through the podcast episodes we dig deeper in to the mystery and the lies.

With the current obsession with social media this book could not be more current or more relevant.

A fantastic thriller with a nod to the horror genre, this read takes you on such a journey you almost feels like you investigating things yourself.

Clever twists and turns throughout and with a cast of characters so well and uniquely written that each of there personalities and the way they speak just makes them come alive as you read. Yet again, this author has given us an amazing read so original and completely gripping I adore this series it is one I recommend time and time again and I cannot wait to see where this author will take us next
