My Review
I was so excited for this #BlogTour as I am already a huge Leigh Russell and I am well versed with the Steel series and could not wait to get stuck in to this read.
While this could be read as a stand alone with little issue, knowing the series and characters like I do, It felt like coming home to family to see what this group and Geraldine Steel was up to now.
Still feeling the after effects of the previous novel, Geraldine is in York, learning to live with been demoted from DI to DS, and back partnering DI Ian Peterson, although the comfortable slip back into their easy working relationship is not as easy to achieve as they hoped.
Two Homeless people are murdered,DS Steel is investigating these murders, frustrated at the fact the case's were not taken seriously at the start due to the victims homeless status and a lack of ideas on where or how to solve the case all suddenly seem no longer a problem when someone confesses to the murders the case is closed.
DS Steel has many doubts about the confession and goes with her gut leading her to ask more questions and seek suspects, but will this help or hinder her?
This book is a brilliant mix of police procedural and crime investigation, as always the characters are very well done, This story is told from many characters points of view and I found this great for the red herrings thrown in and around the story.
Full of twists and turns which all fitted together by the end with an ending that leaves you wanting more and I realise will be taken further in the next in the series, which as always I cannot wait for!
