Synopsis

My Review

In this book third in the series and we are back with D. I. Paulo Sterling and his team.

I love a book that feels like coming home and after reading all of Lorraine Mace's novels i feel like this when i head back in to the world of Sterling and other familiar characters.

If your looking for a real gritty police procedural than look no further than this book ( well the whole series really!)

Sterling is a very real detective he is such a filled out character not perfect yet likeable he is struggling with his relationships with his ex-wife and his daughter. Struggling with team members at work and now add murder to the mix.

Having published a hit list of the 6 people the killer is targeting, The bodies keep piling up with very little to go on how they are connected and sterling struggles to find any real link or motive.

This all comes together in a suspenseful and thrilling journey on the trail of the killer and the who whats and whys that follow!

Its worth noting that this book in the series was not as graphic and shocking as the proceeding 2 I actually thought this was a good thing as the characters seem much more the focus of this read.

The last 2 books turned me in to an absolute fan and this book has cemented this series as a real favourite of mine. You know when a book is so good you want to find out the ending but are sad to get there as its over, that's was my feeling on the final page, I could not wait for more.

I was more than just a bit excited and thrilled to have received an email last week inviting me to take part in the tour for book 4, Sterling and his team will be back in "Rage and Retribution" which I will be reviewing in late August and I cannot wait!

When not working on her D.I. Sterling Series, Lorraine Mace is engaged in many writing-related activities.

She is a columnist for both Writing Magazine and Writers' Forum and is head judge for Writers’ Forum monthly fiction competitions.

A tutor for Writers Bureau, she also runs her own private critique and author mentoring service.

She is co-author, with Maureen Vincent-Northam, of THE WRITER'S ABC CHECKLIST (Accent Press).

Other books include children’s novel VLAD THE INHALER - HERO IN THE MAKING, and NOTES FROM THE MARGIN, a compilation of her Writing Magazine humour column.
