"Can you learn to start living for the moment and not for the likes?"

Synopsis

This heart-warming and funny novel is the perfect balm for the Insta-weary mind – get ready to shatter the illusion that is #LivingMyBestLife.

Bell never thought she’d be facing her 40th birthday single. Recently dumped by her boyfriend of ten years, she’s struggling to move on with her life – and surrender the fleecy pyjamas she’s been living in since January.

Sick of being bombarded by #blessed on social media and feeling like her life doesn’t live up to everyone else’s, she decides it’s time for a change; time to find out who she really is, not who she thinks she should be.

Millie is a successful online influencer posting under the handle @mi_bestlife, but as a single mum trying to make ends meet and stay ahead of the younger generation snapping at her heels, her Instagram feed is far more #BestLie than #BestLife.

With internet trolls attempting to bring her down and an ex who cares more about playing football than seeing their son, Millie begins to wish her life was more like her filters.

It isn’t until Millie and Bell’s paths cross that the two women begin to realise what they’re missing.

Will Bell finally learn to live life for herself? And will Millie see that she needs to start living for the moment and not for the likes?

My Review

I'm not sure if it was the blurb or the over or a combination of both but i just knew i would gel with this book!

In this story we follow the lives of Bell and Millie and how there friendship comes about and grows.

Millie is a single Mum and also an Instagram influencer and Bell is fast approaching 40 and is trying to get back on with life and up of the sofa, after break up with partner of 10 years.

I loved the back and forward chapter style going between the 2 characters, from this we see what each character thinks in the situations but at times see both sides.

This was also a brilliant look of peoples use of Instagram and social media in general and the silly need to be perfect and smack that magic #filter on life, this whole culture just makes me roll my eyes and I think this is why I took to Millie and the real side of her life where everything is not to glossy! plus I felt for her and her son in relation to her ex, Louis, wow I just wanted to give him a kick up the backside!

I also really enjoyed Bells journey and from her devastation it was great to watch her emerge from her shell and try to find happiness again

Overall this was a fantastic read about friendship and female support a lovely feel-good read and a must-read for all us social media users who perhaps wants to appreciate the real life out there and at home with a little more #nofilter
