"They thought they were safe. They were wrong... "

Synopsis

In a sleepy country village, Detective Inspector Robin Marshal – now in retirement – is nearly killed by a stranger.

His friend Alice, a police psychiatrist, discovers that the murder attempt was almost certainly ordered by a terrifying criminal, ‘Big Mack’, currently incarcerated in a notoriously violent prison.

There his criminal kingdom controls not only the inmates, but many of the guards, through the power of money and the threat of extreme violence.

When Alice goes to work in the prison to find out more, she too, becomes a target, her car machine-gunned on a country road, and Robin is attacked again while recovering in Spain.

Under pressure from an outraged public and with political concern rising, the authorities try to put a stop to Big Mack’s activities. But everyone is under threat when he is suddenly at large following a murderous escape. How can this evil kingpin be stopped?

The stunning new thriller from the authors of Serial Damage.

Locked in Fear is a gripping thriller perfect for fans of JD Kirk, Rob Ashman and Joy Ellis.

My Review

Welcome and happy Monday! Another week on lockdown and could a book title be be fitting?

Today I am honored to be on the opening day of the #BlogTour for Locked In Fear the new novel by the fantastsic Co -Authors.

When a attempt is made on retired Dective Robin Marshals life it is quite obvious after Alice his friend a police Psychatrist investigates that the event was orcastrated by criminal mastermind Big Mack, but Big Mack is currently isolated in one of the most violent prisons in the country.

In prison Big Mack controls all that is done and said, running his business and underhand dealings with ease even though he is behind bars. As the Public and political outcry increases over Big Macks rule, Alice goes undercover into the prison, seeing the lies secrets and underhand dealings that follow, soon Alice becomes a target herself. and when Big Mack escapes everyone is at risk and as events spril out of control we question if this Mad and evil criminal leader can ever be stopped.

I know I say quite a lot in my reviews that a book has pase because a lot of crime read are fast but this one WOW! Its not only fast pased but the events are flying at you during the read one after the other, attempted murder, murder, corruption, posioning, bodies turning up, gunshots and the attack against Robin!

This read while enthrawling really set the tone around the prison system and criminal gangs and kingpns, I really enjoyed "Big Mack" as a character for a villian he was increadlbly well fleash out and I can see why few say no to him but mostly in this part I found myself caught more in the prison life and workings than I thought I would. It was also utterly terrifly to see how easily and with how much fear "Big Mack" controlled so much and so many within and around the prison system.

Throught the read we travel from london to France, Spain and Brazil some classic haunts of the criminal underworld who avoid extradition and live there life in the sun with there crimal gains, All of these areas were wonderfuly discribed and each new place added a fresh element to the read overall.

I struggle to say more as a no spoiler blog as many of the futher events add so much yet would spoil the read! All in all this book was not only a facinating look at the prison system it was such an original and cleverly complex read, a captivating and exciting thriller that keeps you on your toes with twists and turns apleanty.
