My Review

Well I don't even know where to start with this review.

This book was one of the most original and heart wrenching books I have read this year if not ever!

Here we are in a dystopian future Britain where the NHS is a thing of the past and the heathcare system as a whole has become so so very expensive and twisted that a person is graded.

Everyone has an EP (earning potential) if a persons health declines or as they age and the costs become too high they basically become worthless so they can earn credits by volunteering for euthanasia.

Because of this system only the young healthy or in some cases rich survive.

We focus on Henry and Kaitlyn, Henry struggling with his wife with Alzheimer's and Kaitlyn drowning under the costs and pressure to turn off her brother life support, as he is in a coma.

Together they fight for and work out how to support the ones they love, I loved how the friendship between these two developed and grew.

As a former nurse (medically retired), I found this version of the future all to real and fearful in some way's, we see today the huge costs of insurance and the medical industry outside the UK and I strongly feel how under-worshipped the NHS really is.

To be confronted with a tale showing the effects after the NHS is no more just terrified me, even more so as I realised that with my chronic illnesses in this world I would have been euthanized long ago! just chilling!

As shocking as this read was I found it utterly compelling and cannot wait to see where this book goes as it is crying out to be turned in to a Tv series or film!
