Can two wrongs ever make a right?

Synopsis

Can two wrongs ever make a right?

A man is found by the side of a canal, comatose and brutally attacked.

It quickly becomes clear that someone is abducting men and subjecting them to horrific acts of torture. After three days they're released, fighting for their lives and refusing to speak.

A councillor is accused of fraud.

Montague Mason is an upstanding member of the community. That is until he's publicly accused of stealing the youth centre's funds - an accusation that threatens to rip through the very heart of the community and expose his best-kept secret. But how far would he go to protect himself?

Two cases. One deadly answer.

As the two cases collide, D.I. Paolo Sterling finds he has more questions than answers. And, when torture escalates to murder, he suddenly finds himself in a race against time to find the killer and put an end to the depravity - once and for all.

My Review

I am thrilled to be a part of this blog tour for the new and 4th outing in this series!

Now any of the books in the series including this new one can be happily read as standalone's, but honestly why deny yourself the chance to be immersed in this fantastic world!

I absolutely loved the previous police procedural's in the series, See my reviews here :- https://booksandemma.wixsite.com/blog/home/search/mace

and I was excited to be back with DI Paolo Sterling and his team and very happy to report that Lorraine Mace has done it again! WOW!

Two cases collide, Sterling finds himself dealing with the rape and torture of different men all who are not talking about the crimes committed against them, kidnapped tortured and realised after 3 days brutalised and damaged these men remain silent. Next the defacement of a sign at a special event for place that is close to Sterling's heart seemingly no connection then suddenly a death occurs and as the body count slowly rises the realisation that these two cases are connected in a way no one could have imagined

This story is nothing if not gritty and brutal, the first chapter alone had me shook to my core, there are many times book reviewers will say a read gripped or hooked them but WOW! the feelings this read gives you right from the start are just indescribable! The author leaves you shocked, vulnerable, worried and raw but yet grasping for more.

Not for the faint-hearted this story is yet again a masterfully crafted web of intrigue and raw personal drama, the author hold nothing back right till the end where the final twist sucker punches you off your feet.

I devoured this read so quickly and i was left feeling like I had run a marathon with the intense emotions, thrills, brutality and twists thrown at you throughout I was left with my heart thumping!

With writing and characters like this I can not wait to be back with DI Sterling and his team and the next case, but for now i feel I need sometime to recover from this amazing read!
