"A Secret Buried For Thirty Years – Could We Face The Shadow Man Again?....."
Synopsis
Idyllic memories. A perfect childhood. A secret buried for thirty years.
None of us could remember why we drifted apart – we were always so close at school but then… you know.
That was thirty years ago, and I hadn’t thought of my school friends in all that time – it was like I’d been made to forget.
And then the dreams started. Dreams that I knew I’d had before. Horrific dreams of fear and fire and death. Dreams of the Shadow Man, a ghostly urban legend who seemed to hang over my home village like an evil spirit.
I’d begun to remember, my memories of back then becoming two-dimensional – a lie to mask what really happened – and I knew we’d have to go back.
Back to Janey, because she never left.
What did happen to us back then, and do we really want to know? And what about the supernatural horror lurking in the shadows – could we face the Shadow Man again?
My Review
First things first you can imagine i have read some books in my time but i have never been asked by so many people family friends and strangers!! what are you reading?
No idea if its the title or the cover but it was just drawing people to ask what it was and what it was about! hello and wave to Susanna who had the guts to ask me a stranger on the morning train to Leeds what my book was!
This story is based around 5 childhood friends coming back to the village where they grew up to confront an evil figure/thing? they call ‘The Shadow Man.’
Out of the 5 women only one, Jane, has stayed in the village and grown up their nightmares and odd events lead her to contacting her old friends Sally, Katie and Clara and getting them to come back home.
The women do return and have convinced themselves that the shadow man and the events all happened due to dabbling with psychedelic mushrooms and such. But the longer they stay, the more they remember and the shadow man suddenly is a part of there lives once more….
This is a fantastic twisty horror tale such of the style of the moment like other books such as the chalk man by C J Tudor.
The story goes back and forth between the past and present and we are left at times wondering if the figure is real at all i it an hallucination caused my mushrooms or as the women research is this a demon and long lived horror? this is a fast paced read and there is so much to keep you guessing and the whole tale is full of so much suspense i will be keeping an eye out and looking forward to what the author does next!
Author Bio
