Blog Tour stop for this unique and masterfully crafted thriller

"Her lies can't last forever... "

Synopsis

JOANNE HAYNES HAS A SECRET. THAT IS NOT HER REAL NAME.

And there’s more. Her flat isn’t hers. Her cats aren't hers. Even her hair isn’t really hers.

Nor is she any of the other women she pretends to be.

Not the bestselling romance novelist who gets her morning snack from the doughnut van on the seafront.

Nor the pregnant woman in the dental surgery.

Nor the chemo patient in the supermarket for whom the cashier feels ever so sorry. They're all just alibis.

In fact, the only thing that’s real about Joanne is that nobody can know who she really is.

But someone has got too close. It looks like her alibis have begun to run out….

My Review

Its no secret to many of you that follow this blog that I am a HUGE CJ Skuse fan.

Her novels "Sweetpea" and "In Bloom" are 2 of my favourites and Rhiannon is my all time favourite characters.

So I was thrilled when HQ reached out about been part of this Blog Tour, I was also interested to view more of the authors works out side of the Sweetpea world.

In the Alibi Girl we meet Joanne Haynes or do we?

To the man in the doughnut van, she's a bestselling writer. To the lady shop, she's pregnant To the women in the supermarket she's a poor chemo patient.

A compulsive liar to everyone she meets, What no-one knows is that Joanne is all a lie too, that's not even her real name No-one can know her real identity the real her but why?

Joanne is convinced she is been followed, and when a girl who looks somewhat like her is murdered in the hotel where she works, Joanne is convinced that they were really after her, what now? have her lies caught up with her? is it time to face the past or run?

I was caught up and entangled in the brilliant web that CJ Skuse weaves from the outset of this read. She has this wonderful and unique way of creating strange and shocking characters that you should probably hate and disagree with but you can't help but root and care for.

As a spoiler free blog this book is so hard to describe and really much more comment could spoil the whole thing, so all I will say is that as we start to see Joanne's past unfold, and why she behaves the way she does this read develops in to a riveting and masterfully crafted thriller with a carefully woven mix of family drama and trauma.

This read has cemented me as a fan of the authors writing, if your looking for a more unique and interesting thriller then look no further, I cannot wait to see what CJ Skuse comes up with next! even though I am selfishly praying that is the 3rd in the Sweetpea series.

Author Bio

C.J. SKUSE is the author of the Young Adult novels PRETTY BAD THINGS, ROCKOHOLIC and DEAD ROMANTIC (Chicken House) and MONSTER and THE DEVIANTS (Mira Ink).

She has recently written the adult crime novels SWEETPEA and its sequel for HQ/HarperCollins.

C.J. was born in 1980 in Weston-super-Mare, England and has First Class degrees in Creative Writing and Writing for Children and, aside from writing novels, lectures in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University.

C.J. loves Masterchef, Gummy Bears and graveyards. She hates hard-boiled eggs, going to the dentist and coughing.

The movies Titanic, My Best Friend's Wedding and Ruby Sparks were all probably based on her ideas - she just didn't get to write them down in time. Before she dies, she would like to go to Japan, try clay-pigeon shooting and have Tom Hardy present her with the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
