My Review
What an incredible translation! It's no surprise that this book has sold over 100,000 copies and was number one in Sweden.
For those expecting a typical relationship read, think again. This story is raw, gripping, and heartbreaking.
Bea and Niklas may appear to have a fairy-tale marriage of over 30 years, happy and content. But behind closed doors, the struggles of everyday life, the stresses, and the little things are starting to take their toll. Can anything truly break them apart?
Bea never expected the unanswered calls and texts on that fateful day. Where was he? They had a trip planned, and with just one reply, her world came crashing down.
As Niklas seeks solace with friends, Bea turns to her own family and friends for answers. They all say to fight for the marriage, but Bea is left confused, wondering where it all went wrong and realizing that she may not have full control over what happens next.
I was captivated by the dual perspective in this story. My heart broke for Bea as I felt her loss and confusion so deeply. But then, hearing Niklas's side of the story, my opinions were challenged, and I began to understand the frustration from both sides.
To feel such empathy and emotion for the two main characters as they navigate the loss of love was truly powerful.
This is a book that will stay with you long after you've finished reading it. It's the kind of story you can't help but recommend to others just so you have someone to talk to about it! Absolutely outstanding!
