"One dark secret. One adolescent obsession..."

Synopsis

As a boy, Ben was a witness in the disappearance and suspected murder of a beautiful young woman, Esther Garrett, which led to an intense adolescent obsession.

Twenty years later, the conviction of her murder is overturned due to a police corruption scandal.

Ben’s obsession is reawakened when Esther’s sister asks for his help investigating the crime.

As Ben is drawn deeper into the case, he will be forced to face the truth about his own life and soon finds himself questioning everything he ever believed.

Was Esther really murdered?

And if so, could the killer be closer to home than anyone ever imagined?

My Review

Brilliant! this is one of my favourite type of crime books the ones that twist you right time the end the WHAM! thy get you right with the ending!

Ben is 11 years old and travelling along on dad Peter's bus route, peter is a bus driver and Ben often joins him riding along.

but this day this journey changes his life forever.

After he witnesses something going on between a young girl and a rough looking lad. he finds out later that the young girl, called Esther disappeared without trace.

Ben becomes totally obsessed with the case, and he thinks he can solve what happened and find her, though her body was never found a conviction was made and the murderer was imprisoned.

Fast forward and Ben is now working in London when two things happen Firstly the detective, who was in charge of the case is thought to be corrupt, so is having all his cases looked into again and secondly the victims younger sister wants to discover what really happened.  And from here Ben is caught up in the whole affair again.

he is more determined than ever to find out the truth and its more than he could ever imagine! This book had me hooked in and I read it in 2 sittings, it has a quick pace and i found the time flew by.

Great characters very believable and I loved moving back and forward over the two decades and discovering the secrets and lies.

Spoiler free blog here but a nod to the author for that title! that was a twist all of its own!!
