"Do you listen to your mother? Even after she's dead? "

Synopsis

Do you listen to your mother? Even after she's dead?

Anna Hardaker is following you … This seemingly innocent Tweet fills Jamie Hardaker with confusion and fear.

After all, his mother Anna has been dead for nearly three weeks.

What follows is an orchestrated Twitter campaign to lead those Anna loved, and didn’t love so much, to the truth behind her “accidental” death.

My Review

What a distinctive and unique read, this book came to the the of my TBR just at the right time, I was looking for something a little bit different and this story was just the tonic I needed

In this read we meet Jamie 23 years old and still living at home, a much loved only child of Anna who has recently died after an accident.

This whole story is told from Jamie's perspective, from his innermost thoughts about his love for his mother, how much he misses her and how he still speaks to her, we also get a feel for the others in Jamie's life, his fraught relationship with his mother's fiance Iain and his utter dislike of Iain's daughter Claudia.

This is one step family that had issues, before her death Anna was fed up with the constant arguments, not only from Jamie and Claudia two young adults who are quite frankly behaving like young children, To other family members having there say, this overall was not the happy family Anna envisioned.

Not long after Anna'a funeral Jamie receives a twitter notification, A tweet from his mother’s account. He is confused but assumes a mistake and ignores it, but as more tweets are appear, he wonders how this is happening? who can get in to her account? Iain? other family? her ghost?

And when these tweets start to turn sinister hinting that Anna’s death may not have been an accident Jamie's world spirals out of control, was there more to his mothers death? whats the truth? This was an engaging Thriller we have the of the tweets which gave this read a really modern edge, we also have the challenges of blend families the frictions around step family members, just because 2 people fall in love does not mean that everyone will get on in harmony.

Packed full of twist and turns this book keeps you on your toes, This is the authors debut but is so well written it did not feel like it at all, A book to grab if your looking for a read with a difference a charming yet clever thriller with a hint of mystery.

Author Bio

Maria Frankland's life began at 40 when she escaped an unhappy marriage and began making a living from her own writing and becoming a teacher of creative writing.

The rich tapestry of life with all its turbulent times has enabled her to pour experience, angst and lessons learned into the writing of her novels and poetry.

She recognises that the darkest places can exist within family relationships and this is reflected in the domestic thrillers she writes. She is a 'born 'n' bred' Yorkshire woman, a mother of two and has recently found her own 'happy ever after' after marrying again.

Still in her forties, she is now going to dedicate the rest of her working life to writing books and inspiring other writers to also achieve their dreams too!
