"A suspense novel about guilt and betrayal. For fans of Erin Kelly and The Split - Andrew Crofts "
Synopsis
Sophie Angel is the night lawyer. Once a week, she’s the one who decides what the papers can and can’t say.
During the day, she’s a barrister. She struggles for justice in a system that’s close to collapse, where she confronts the most dangerous aspects of humanity.
Her life changes when a wealthy Russian offers her the biggest case of her career, a rape trial with a seemingly innocent client.
But is someone manipulating Sophie from the shadows? With her marriage under strain and haunted by nightmares from the past, Sophie must find the answer to these questions before it’s too late.
This is a story about betrayal, trust, guilt and innocence, played out from the courtrooms of London to the darkest corners of Soviet era Moscow
My Review
The Night Lawyer was a book I started thinking this would be a crime thriller
what I was left with was a book I just could not put down!, this book had me hooked from the start and I was obsessed!
'The Night Lawyer' is not only a gripping thriller but a fascinating look in to the criminal justice system
Sophie Angel a barrister, offered the case of her career, a rape case and a seeming innocent client but is she ready to uncover the lies, and what will the truth cost her?
I was on tender hooks as this story barrelled toward the conclusion the tension packed scenes in the court and the agonising waiting for the verdict was all absolutely gripping.
Seeing the fragile justice system at it raw edge was a sobering journey that left me feeling more needs to be done in the real world to support and improve this system for those that work within it.
This was the not only the crime thriller I believed but it was so much more than I expected a standout read for this year! and I am really looking forward to more from this author.
