Upon learning the crime occurred in the same village she once visited as a child, Erin is on the verge of refusing to take the case, when a startling discovery triggers memories she’d rather keep hidden, and a suspicion the wrong man is behind bars.

My Review

This is the authors debut and what a debut it was, beautifully written, I was captivated with the story from the very start.

In "The Shadow Bird" we meet Erin Cartwright a psychiatrist at a clinic in New York clinic new to the post she has to as part of her contract take part in certain outreach cases to keep the board happy in this case she is asked to evaluate the case of a man who is up for parole.

Timothy Stern incarcerated in another psychiatric facility since is conviction 27 years ago at the age of 17 of the murders of his mother and 2 sisters, a shocking case yet Timothy has no recollection of the crime has remained placid during his treatment and while his own doctors believe he is fit for release does Erin agree?

Erin is loathed to take up the case as Erin has secrets herself, a connection to her past and she wants it gone as quickly as possible but the more she tries to back out the more she is compelled to get to the truth of this case no matter what the cost to Timothy or herself. slowly the lies are stacking up and no one is ready for the outcome.

Oh my god this read was tense! dripping with a undertone of suspense this read slowly burns through the present and the past revealing hints and parts of the case.

As the pieces start to add up I though I could see where this story was head but wow it had some amazing twists that left me reeling!

I really enjoyed Erin as a character, I feel she could be further explored, the writing was so intense and kept me hooked throughout, I cannot wait to read what is coming next from this author, this was an outstanding debut!
