My Review


'Voices of the Dead,' is the thrilling fourth installment in Ambrose Parry's gripping Raven and Fisher series.


Set in the bustling streets of Edinburgh during the mid-19th Century, this historical medical crime novel will kept me on the edge of my seat all the way thorugh!


In 1854 Edinburgh, a sinister killer is on the loose, leaving body parts scattered throughout the city.


Dr. Will Raven, assistant to the renowned Dr. Simpson, finds himself embroiled in the investigation, struggling now with juggling his work and personal life. Will finds solace in the company of his colleague , the inquisitive Sarah Fisher a fellow medical trainee with a sharp mind and a taste for the more eclectic side of the medical world in this case Mesmerism (the theory of natural energy between all things) and clairvoyance!


As Raven and Fishers paths intertwine once more with a killer on the loose and dark secrets from the past coming to light, Will and Sarah must join forces to prevent an even more heinous crime from taking place.

Author Bio



Ambrose Parry is a pseudonym for a collaboration between Chris Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman. The couple are married and live in Scotland.


Chris Brookmyre is the international bestselling and multi-award-winning author of over twenty novels.


Dr Marisa Haetzman is a consultant anaesthetist of twenty years' experience, whose research for her Master's degree in the History of Medicine uncovered the material upon which this series, which begun with The Way of All Flesh, is based. The Way of all Flesh was longlisted for both the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award and the McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Book of the Year.
