My Review

This read was an absolutely engaging and emotional journey which I adored.

We meet Charlie who having split up from her fiancé, sets off to travel the world, to move forward seeking adventure or to possibly find her own place in the world.

When suddenly on her travels she gets an urgent message from her sister, Eleanor, telling her to come home now! that their mother is very ill in hospital.

Rushing home, sadly Charlie finds it is too late and her mother Britta has passed away.

Dealing with grief and the feelings of guilt around not doing enough for her family, Charlie and her sister sort her mother belongings and affairs when the start to realise neither of them really knew there mother at all.

As the take this almost journey through their mothers life and secrets they learn her loves, passions the friends she had and that she even owned a canal boat! from which them learn the adventures she had in it all this in turn inspires and encourages both sisters in particular Charlie who was at such a crossroads in her life.

This was a light and joy filled read even though the sisters are dealing with grief, we are taken on this amazing journey and with a steady pace, this book became quite the page turner as we slowly uncovered Britta's secrets, and the lies woven in to this family dynamic.

wonderfully written, a lovely book for those wanting a more lighter read that still has an edge of mystery.
