My Review
Last year I reviewed this authors debut on this blog and it was one of my standout reads of the year
So I went in to this read with high expectation not only from the authors style of writing but also from the main character of Augusta Bloom who I just loved as a character so much my wish in the last review was that this would turn into a series.
After finishing I was thrilled to note that not only has this author produced a second novel just a captivating as the first she has allowed this character to take the helm of this series and it was just outstanding.
In Lost we open at a military ball a regal affair, Captain Harry Peterson is in attendance and outside he waits just as his partner Karene arrives he is called away into the building, then before Karene's eyes the building explodes
The destruction mounts around the guests as much as the panic, a bomb!? why?? karene finds Harry unconscious but alive, as the emergency services arrive Harry and other injured guests are taken away by ambulances.
but when she arrives at the hospital he is not there?
3 days after the bombing which is now been thought of as a terrorist attack Harry turns up at the hospital, but has no memory not only of what happened to him while he has been missing but nothing of the last 4 years of his life even his entire relationship with Karene?
At a loss Karene contacts her friend Dr Augusta Bloom, for help. can Dr Bloom get to the bottom of this mystery? and is she willing to risk the danger that surrounds them all?
While this is a series and i do recommend you read "Gone" if you have not had the pleasure, this book works perfectly as a standalone.
I liked seeing the relationship between Augusta and Marcus and how the events in Gone have changed that dynamic with a really question of trust and belief between them and I enjoyed the new characters brought in to this story.
Lost was a captivating and thrilling read, full of twists that you do not see coming and a style that is packed with pace leaving you grasping at " just one more chapter!" as this story really gets its hooks into you, it really had everything I hoped for in the second in the series and I cannot wait for more!
