"Perfect for fans of James Patterson and Karin Slaughter, this is the second gripping instalment of the Sacramento series from Sunday Times bestseller Karen Rose. An explosive crime thriller, Say No More will keep you gripped until the final page. "

Synopsis

If they ever catch you, say nothing. Admit nothing. Never tell.

Mercy Callahan never thought she'd be able to talk about her past. When she arrives in Sacramento to make peace with her brother Gideon, and to help find the brutal cult that took away her childhood, she is finally ready to talk.

But when Ephraim Burton - the man who made her life a living hell - follows her there, she realises she might never be safe.

Rafe Sokolov would do anything to have Mercy back in his life and would go to any length to protect her. But when it becomes apparent that Ephraim is more determined than ever to get Mercy back, even Rafe might not be able to stop the trail of destruction he leaves in his wake.

As Ephraim draws near, it's clear it's not just Mercy who is in danger; those closest to her are firmly in his sights.

Will Mercy sacrifice herself to help bring Ephraim down? Or will he finally get what he's always wanted...

My Review

Having been huge fan of Karen Rose and her work for many years and been involved in a few reviews since I started this blog, See my older reviews here:-

I was thrilled to be asked to take part in this tour to get stuck in to the 2nd book in the new Sacramento series.

In this book, which I will say is a chunk of a read with near 600 pages but wow it kept me gripped every step of the way!

We are 2 months on from the first book, and here we focus in on Mercy who we did meet in the first read but at the time was more of a secondary character. In this story she takes centre stage with Mercy's return to Sacramento and the imminence fears and troubles from the past that this brings.

I have already said that this read kept me gripped but it was more than just the story, the writers amazing characterisation creates these fleshed out people who you real care and root for.

I was championing Mercy and Rafe all the way through, and I loved the twists and turns which kept me hooked as well as seeing returning characters gave me a real homely feel like I knew the the people well.

This was a fantastic second in the series dare I say I enjoyed it even more than the first! The only thing I will add is that for me this is not a read you could read as a stand alone, as the book does reference the first in the series quite a bit, But this is such a fantastic series that you would not want to deny yourself enjoying the first book anyway! I am already chopping at the bit for book 3!
